Jérémie Marié — Hyperrealist & Surrealist Painter

Working at the intersection of perception and memory,
Oil and mixed media built in slow, deliberate layers. The image arrives first: whole, wordless, already saturated. Painting is the work of getting there.

Transformations

2022-2024

Something is wrong with the face. That's where it starts.

I work inside the space between recognition and refusal — the fraction of a second where the brain registers something human and then isn't sure.

The color is too loud. The features are in the wrong place. The smile has too many teeth, or the wrong kind, or it's the only thing left.

I work in oil and aerography, building surfaces that are technically precise in the service of something deeply off. The attraction is real. So is the discomfort. I don't resolve the tension between them, that's where the paintings live.
